M&A Projections Strong for 2022

“Mergers and acquisitions hit a record in 2021, fueled by low interest rates, a surge in private-equity fundraising and companies’ efforts to respond to broader shifts in their industries.” According to this article from the Wall Street Journal the total value of M&A transactions globally rose by 64% in 2021. So what does that mean for the Shannon Group heading into 2022?

A marked increase in mergers involving special-purpose acquisition companies (from 6% to 11% of transaction values globally) indicates growing interest from acquiring companies in a focal-point sector at Shannon Group. As more of these acquiring companies funnel into the special-purpose market our clients will see more interest, creating more flexibility in deal structure and value.
